About our client
Our client is building an AI-powered platform that allows users to create realistic images and videos of themselves or AI characters without traditional photoshoots or complex production setups. The platform serves content creators and influencers who want to produce content at scale and grow their online presence. The engineering team develops the backend systems that power AI content generation, from core APIs and data models to the infrastructure responsible for processing generation requests.
The role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Engineer to take ownership of backend systems powering the platform’s AI image and video generation features. You’ll focus on building reliable services that handle asynchronous jobs, queues, retries, and potentially resource-intensive media generation workflows. You’ll also help improve system performance, observability, testing, and deployment processes as the product grows. This is a backend-focused role with no frontend responsibilities, suited to someone who enjoys solving infrastructure and reliability challenges while remaining close to the product.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain backend services and APIs that support AI character creation and image and video generation.
Design data models and backend architecture that can support a growing product and increasing workloads.
Develop reliable background processing workflows, including queues, retries, and error handling.
Make sure generation jobs run safely and efficiently, avoiding duplicate processing and unnecessary costs.
Improve automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes to make deployments safer.
Monitor production systems, investigate incidents, and improve performance, reliability, and observability.
Take ownership of the systems you build and help improve their architecture as the platform evolves.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in backend software engineering.
Strong experience with Go and PostgreSQL.
Experience building and operating production backend systems.
Good understanding of asynchronous processing, job queues, workers, retries, and idempotency.
Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, performance optimisation, and production incidents.
Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, and safe deployment practices.
Ability to take ownership of systems and make sound technical decisions.
Nice to have:
Experience with generative media systems or GPU-based processing pipelines.
Experience designing reliable, long-running workflows that can resume after failures.
Experience breaking down a monolith into well-defined services or components.
Experience scaling PostgreSQL and job-processing infrastructure.
